Mumbai opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to part ways with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and move to Goa ahead of the upcoming domestic cricket season. The 23-year-old has reportedly written an email to the MCA, requesting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to facilitate his transition to Goa’s state team.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Jaiswal has requested the MCA to grant him the release so he could switch to Goa. While the exact reason for his decision remains unclear, he reportedly mentioned “personal” reasons in his email.

“He has sought a NOC from us and has cited that the reason for his move to Goa is personal,” a source in the MCA was quoted as saying.

Jaiswal is not the first cricketer to seek such a move in recent years. Earlier, Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad also represented Goa after moving away from Mumbai.

Earlier this year, Jaiswal was left out of India’s Champions Trophy squad but was included as a non-traveling substitute. Despite being drafted into the Mumbai Ranji squad ahead of their semifinal clash against Vidarbha on 17 February, he pulled out citing ankle pain. In the only Ranji match that he featured last season, Jaiswal scored 4 & 26 runs.

Having played for Mumbai since his U-19 days, Jaiswal made headlines when he scored a double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His consistent performances in domestic cricket eventually earned him a place in the Indian national team two years ago, where he has since become a regular feature across formats.

Jaiswal is currently busy playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. However, he has struggled to find his rhythm so far, managing scores of just 1, 29, and 4 in his first three matches. The left-hander will next be seen in action during a match against Punjab Kings on 5 April.
