Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit headlines once again as he slammed a 32-ball century playing for India A in their opening match of the 2025 Rising Stars Asia Cup against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday.

The 14-year-old sensation seemed moving towards a scarcely believable double century but was dismissed for 144 on his 42nd ball in what was only the 13th over of the match.

Suryavanshi shocks UAE

India A captain Jitesh Sharma won the toss and asked UAE to bowl first. Suryavanshi faced the first ball and it could have been his last had UAE captain Alishan Sharafu held on to a simple catch off Mohammad Farazuddin.

What followed afterwards was total carnage from the young left-hander.

Suryavanshi used his brute force to make a mockery of UAE’s bowling attack as he smashed boundaries after boundaries to reach his hundred in 32 balls. He was not done yet as he kept going but eventually was dismissed for 144 off 42.

Suryavanshi slammed 11 fours and 15 sixes in his innings to end up with a mind-boggling strike rate of 342.86.

Suryavanshi’s fastest century

This is the fastest century of the left-hander in professional cricket. He had earlier shocked the cricketing world with a 35-ball hundred in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season against a Gujrat Titans (GT) bowling attack comprising of Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma and Rashid Khan among others.

At 14 years and 232 days, he’s also now the youngest to hit a hundred for a men’s national representative side. He is also the only batter to have multiple T20 centuries in less than 35 balls.

This is also the second fastest ton by an Indian in T20 cricket. Only Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma (both 28 balls) have a hundred quicker than Suryavanshi among Indians in the format.

He was threatening to hit a double ton when Muhammad Farazuddin got his wicket in the 13th over.
