14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has entered the record books again as he went past former India U19 captain Unmukt Chand’s world record during the second Youth ODI against Australia U19 in Brisbane. The Rajasthan Royals prodigy is making waves with record knocks in U19 cricket across the world.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has etched his name in the history books again. The 14-year-old batting sensation from Bihar broke the world record for most sixes in Youth ODI cricket. He achieved this feat during his brilliant knock of 70 off 68 balls for India U19 against Australia U19 at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane on Wednesday, September 24.

Vaibhav goes past Unmukt Chand

His explosive innings was made up of five fours and six sixes and it came in the second game of the three-match series. The highlight was his fourth six of the day, which took him past former India U19 captain Unmukt Chand’s tally of 38 sixes. Unmukt took 21 innings to set the record, but Vaibhav took just 10 innings to enter the record books.

Another Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is third on the list of batters with the most sixes in Youth ODIs. He has 30 sixes in 27 Youth ODIs.

Vaibhav brought up his half-century in just 54 balls despite not having the usual quick start to his innings. He started slowly but then picked up the pace once the fielding restrictions were removed after the 10th over. The Rajasthan Royals youngster had reached 41 sixes by the time he ended his innings. He was dismissed by Australian skipper Yash Deshmukh in the 19th over of the Indian innings.

Vaibhav impresses in U19 cricket

This was not Vaibhav’s first big knock of the series. In the first Youth ODI, he smashed a quickfire 38 off 22 balls to help India win by seven wickets. Earlier this year, he destroyed the England U19 team with 355 runs in a five-match series at an average of 71 and a strike rate of 174. His 143 off 78 balls in the fourth ODI became the fastest century ever in U19 Men’s ODIs, coming off just 52 balls. This also made him the youngest centurion in Youth ODI history.

Vaibhav became a household name in India earlier this year when he showed his class in IPL 2025. He made his debut for Rajasthan Royals at just 14 and went on to become the youngest and second-fastest centurion in the league’s history. making him one of the youngest ever to play in the league. He finished IPL 2025 with 252 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 206.56, winning the Super Striker of the Season award.

Meanwhile, India U19 defeated Australia U19 by 51 runs in the second Youth ODI to take a 2-1 lead in the series. India posted a strong total of 300 in 49.4 overs, thanks to Vaibhav’s knock. In reply, Australia struggled despite a brilliant 107 from Jayden Draper and were all out for 249 in 47.2 overs.
