Mumbai and Tamil Nadu will be vying for a place in the Ranji Trophy final when they go head-to-head in the second semi-final of the domestic competition on March 2. Accumulating 37 points in seven matches, Mumbai clinched the top place in Elite Group B. They were up against Baroda in the quarter-final. Though the match ended in a draw, Mumbai punched their tickets to the semi-final, based on the first-innings lead. Shreyas Iyer is set to feature in the Ranji Trophy semi-final for Mumbai and his inclusion will no doubt bolster their batting power.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu crushed reigning champions Saurashtra in the third quarter-final. N Jagadeesan and Co. won the match by an innings and 33 runs to claim a spot among the final four. In the league stage, Tamil Nadu racked up 28 points by registering four wins and two draws and finished at the top of Elite Group C.
