Mumbai Indians’ list of retained and released players: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians retained former skipper Rohit Sharma alongside current captain Hardik Pandya, India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as well as Tilak Varma ahead of the mega auction for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Bumrah is the top retention at Rs 18 crore while the trio of Hardik, Rohit and Surya have been retained at Rs 16.3 crore each. Middle-order batter Tilak has been retained at Rs 8 crore.
Rohit was widely believed to have played his final game for MI during their last league match of the 17th season, against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium. However, it appears the franchise intends for the ‘Hitman’ to continue at the franchise instead of heading elsewhere.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, however, has once again been released ahead of a mega-auction. He had been released back in 2022 as well, though the five-time champions bought him back at Rs 15.25 crore. Also heading back to the auction pool is Australian batter Tim David as well his middle-order colleague Nehal Wadhera, though one of them is likely to be retained using the Right To Match (RTM) card.

Which players MI retained before IPL 2022 mega auction?
Three players from the current list had been retained ahead of the 2022 mega auction – captain Rohit as well as Surya and Bumrah. The franchise had also retained West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who would play one more season before announcing his IPL retirement.
