Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) welcomed back Venkatesh Iyer after he was acquired for Rs 23.75 crore at the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday. KKR had retained six players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction , but title-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer was not part of the team’s retention list.
KKR also signed South African stalwarts like Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje, apart from buying back Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz, both of whom played for the franchise in IPL 2024.
KKR had retained Rinku Singh (Rs 13 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (Rs 12 crore), Sunil Narine (Rs 12 crore), Andre Russell (Rs 12 crore), Harshit Rana (Rs 4 crore) and Ramandeep Singh (Rs 4 crore). KKR clinched their third IPL title earlier this year after they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets in the final.
