Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2025 Live Updates: Welcome to our Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction live blog where we will bring all the latest updates from the players’ auction and all the news and which player is sold to which team. The IPL Auction 2025, which will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 24 November (Sunday) and 25 November (Monday), will decide the fate of 577 players as only 204 slots are available across the 10 franchises. This is only the second time the IPL auction is taking place outside India , with the 2023 auction taking place in Dubai.
Earlier, the BCCI had announced a list of 577 payers for the IPL 2025 auction but three more players – Jofra Archer, Hardik Tamore, and Saurabh Netravalkar – have been added to the players list and are set to undergo the hammer at the mega auction. The players that the IPL franchises buy at the 2025 auction will be with the team for the next three years and they were also allowed to retain six players in a combination of retention and right-to-match card (RTM).
The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were the only two teams to retain all six players while Punjab Kings (PBKS) was the team with the least number of retentions – just 2. PBKS have the biggest purse in the auction remaining from the total purse of Rs 120 crore. Punjab have Rs 110-.5 crore to spend in the IPL 2025 auction while Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who retained three players including Virat Kohli, have the second-highest purse of Rs 83 crore.
RR have the least purse at Rs 41 crore, while Sunrisers Hyderabad, which retained five players, including Heinrich Klaasen, for the highest Rs 23 core, only has Rs 45 crore to spend in the IPL 2025 auction. Overall, the 10 teams will have Rs 641.5 crore to spend in the IPL 2025 auction .
There are a total of 81 players in the top base price category in Rs 2 crore , 12 players from this are in the ‘Marquee’ list and will undergo under the hammer at the start of the IPL auction. Marquee List 1: Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Arshdeep Singh, Jos Buttler (England), Kagiso Rabada (South Africa) and Mitchell Starc (Australia).
Marquee List 2: Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Liam Livingstone (England), David Miller (South Africa).
