The Indian women’s cricket team has once again made history, securing the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title for the second consecutive year. After a stellar performance in the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2023, India successfully defended their championship in 2025, defeating South Africa by 9 wickets in the final held in Malaysia on Sunday, 2 February.

Among those celebrating their achievement was Reliance Foundation chairperson and International Olympic Committee member Nita Ambani, who expressed her immense pride in the team’s remarkable success. Nita Ambani, a prominent supporter of women’s sports in India, shared her heartfelt congratulations.

India’s bowlers delivered a dominant performance in the final, dismissing South Africa for just 82 runs after they chose to bat first . Trisha Gongadi claimed three wickets, with Aayushi Shukla’s standout 2/9, including two maidens, leading the way as India bowled out South Africa.
Chasing a modest target, India began confidently, reaching 36/0 by the end of the powerplay. South Africa’s lone success came when captain Reyneke dismissed Kamalini G, but Trisha Gongadi’s unbeaten 44 off 33 balls, including eight fours, alongside Sanika Chalke’s 26 off 22, saw India coast to a nine-wicket victory.
