The ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup got underway on Thursday, 3 October, with ‘hosts’ Bangladesh starting their campaign on a positive note with a 16-run victory against Scotland in Sharjah.

Pakistan were up against reigning Asian champions Sri Lanka in the evening fixture of the Thursday double header, the Lankans chasing a target of 117.
Day 2 of the tournament will witness 2023 runners-up South Africa face off against 2016 champions West Indies in the afternoon fixture. And later in the day, Team India begin their campaign against New Zealand, both teams having runners-up in past editions of the tournament.
