The Indian cricket team will be back in action on Wednesday (22 January) with the first T20 against England at the Eden Garden in Kolkata. The India vs England 1st T20 will start at 7 PM IST . This will be India’s first match since they lost the fifth Test to Australia in Sydney on 5 January.
This will also be the Indian cricket team’s first T20 since the four-match series against South Africa away from home the Men in Blue won 3-1. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the format, India have given chances to many young players and Suryakumar Yadav has been handed the captaincy.
Under SKY’s captaincy, Team India has won nine out of 10 T20s including a 3-0 series sweep against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in 2024.
The reigning T20 World Champion now face the England challenge at home in a five-match series before playing out a three-game ODI series. The T20 matches will be played on 22 January (Kolkata), 25 January (Chennai), 28 January (Rajkot), 31 January (Pune) and 2 February (Mumbai).
England, who won the T20 World Cup in 2022, have a new coach. Brendon McCullum has now taken charge of the white-ball sides as well along with the Test team. McCullum had made the England Test side one of the most attacking units in world cricket and expect the same from the T20 team.
