Virat Kohli has dropped out of the top 20 in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Ranking for the first time since December 2014, while Rishabh Pant has returned to the top 10 after a gap of two years. Kohli had a horrible series against New Zealand which India lost 3-0 at home .
Virat Kohli pays price for poor form
The right-handed batter, who turned 36 on Tuesday, scored a total of 93 runs in six innings against New Zealand at an average of 15.50.
The last time Kohli was out of the top 20 in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Ranking was in 2014 after a dismal tour of England where he scored 134 runs in five matches at an average of 13.4. From December 2014 till 5 November 2024, Kohli had been part of the top 20 in the ICC Men’s Test Batting Ranking.

Kohli dropped a total of 8 spots and is currently ranked 22nd in the world.
India captain Rohit Sharma has dropped 2 spots to 26th after scoring just 91 runs in three matches against New Zealand.

Pant, Mitchell witness massive rise
Rishabh Pant, who was the top run-getter against New Zealand with 261 runs in three matches at 43.50, has jumped from 11 to 6th, returning to the top 10 for the first time since his car accident in 2022.
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who could only manage 190 runs in three matches, has dropped a spot to 4th position. The top three batters are Joe Root, Kane Williamson, and Harry Brook.

New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell has witnessed a massive jump, going from 15 to 7.
Though Rachin Ravindra scored 256 runs in three matches at an average of 51.20, he has dropped 10 places and is now ranked 21st.
