India’s wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel earned himself plenty of praise after a battling 90-run knock against England in the fourth Test. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar compared Jurel’s “presence of mind” to that of former keeper MS Dhoni.
“Of course he has batted well, but his keeping, his work behind the stumps has been equally brilliant. Just by looking at his game awareness, I want to say that he is another MS Dhoni in the making. I know there can never be another MSD but you know the presence of mind that he has, MSD also when he started, it was that. And Jurel has that game awareness. Street-smart cricketer,” Gavaskar said in commentary for the host broadcaster on Sunday (Day 3 of the Test in Ranchi).
Jurel impressed not only with the bat but also his assured his keeping skills, replacing KS Bharat into the side.

With one wicket left, Jurel tried his best to get to his hundred run mark but was undone by Tom Hartley. The angled delivery from left-hand spinner spun past the defensive shot by Jurel and clipped the middle and off stump.
