Australia vs India 4th Test Day 5 report: Hosts Australia scripted a remarkable 184-run win over India in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series. Earlier on Day five on Monday, Australia had set India a target of 340, but the visitors crumbled big time. Barring Yashasvi Jaiswal (84) and Rishabh Pant (30), none of the batters got going as India were dismissed for 155.

Australia skipper Pat Cummins was the standout bowler, striking thrice in a relentless display of fast bowling. Resuming the day at 228 for nine, Australia were bowled out for 234. India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah (5/57) expectedly led the show with a five-wicket haul.

Australia vs India Live Match Today: Team India lost skipper Rohit Sharma (9), KL Rahul (0) and Virat Kohli (5) in their run chase on Day five of the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne on Monday. The visitors were set a target of 340 on the final day of the fourth Test after Australia were dismissed for 234 in their second innings.

Marnus Labuschagne (70) top-scored for the Aussies in the second innings while skipper Pat Cummins (41) and Nathan Lyon (41) also played crucial roles. At the time of writing this report, India were 71/3 after 36 overs with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (40*) and Rishabh Pant (10*) unbeaten at the crease. India need 269 more runs to win from a minimum of 56 overs and seven wickets at hand.

The five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series is currently level 1-1 after three Tests. India won the first Test in Perth by 295 runs, whereas Australia clinched the second Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets. The third Test in Brisbane, which was marred by frequent rain interruptions, ended in a draw.
