Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has once again created a storm on social media after a video of him trolling Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah went viral. Bumrah had a proud record of never being hit for a six in T20 internationals, but that changed in the Asia Cup 2025 when Farhan smashed him for multiple sixes and became the first batter to break that record.
The two teams met three times during the recent Asia Cup, in the group stage, Super 4, and the final, and Farhan showed top confidence in every game while facing Bumrah. The right-handed opener, who finished as Pakistan’s highest run-getter in the tournament, looked very comfortable against the Indian speedster.
Farhan scored 217 runs in the Asia Cup with a strike rate of 108.49, but his numbers against India were completely different. Against Bumrah alone, he smashed 51 runs from 34 balls at a strike rate of 150. He also hit Bumrah for three sixes across the three clashes, something no batter had ever done in T20Is before.
Bumrah mocked by Pakistani batter
In a recent promotional video, Farhan mocked Bumrah over the six-hitting record. He said, “Kya yeh wohi bowler hai jisko abhi tak chakka nahi laga? Maine kaha yeh kaise ho sakta hai? Three innings, 150 runs akele. Jab hum khelte hai, toh yeh nahi dekhte ki saamne wala kaun hai. (Is this the bowler who has never been hit for a six? I thought, how is this possible? Three innings, 150 runs alone. When we play, we don’t see who is bowling).”
Farhan was also criticised recently for another viral video. During the third T20I against South Africa in Lahore earlier this month, Pakistani fans were heard making obscene comments about Bumrah. In the clip, Farhan appeared to smile and clap while listening to the chants, which also upset many Indian fans online.
