India may have lost the series 1-2, but they ended it on a high note with a commanding nine-wicket win over Australia in the third ODI on Saturday. Opener Rohit Sharma smashed an unbeaten 121 off 125 balls, while Virat Kohli played a fighting 74 not out, guiding India to a comfortable chase of 237 in just 38.3 overs.
Ro-Ko thank Aussie fans
After the match, both stars took a moment to thank the Australian fans for their support, confirming that they have played their last international match Down Under. Speaking to Ravi Shastri and Adam Gilchrist after the victory, Rohit and Kohli touched upon their long careers and their experience of playing in Australia.
“We want to say thank you as well. We’ve loved coming to this country, and playing in front of big crowds. We played some of our best cricket here. Thank you very much for welcoming us so well. You guys have been brilliant. Never felt short of support here,” said Kohli. Rohit added, “Thank you Australia.”
“I have always loved coming here and playing here in Australia. Fond memories of 2008 and nice way to finish with the win and with that knock. I don’t know if we’ll be coming back to Australia, but it was fun all these years we played here. Lot of good memories and bad memories, but I will take the cricket I played here,” Rohit added.
