Rishabh Pant resumed his innings on Day 2 of the Manchester Test , receiving a loud welcome from the crowd as he walked back to the crease after being retired hurt on Day 1 of the 4th Test. The batter trudged to the middle after India lost the sixth wicket in the form of Shardul Thakur.
Team India suffered a colossal injury setback on Day 1 of the Manchester Test as wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant reportedly sustained a toe fracture and has been ruled out of the Oval Test. Pant was batting at 37* when a full-length delivery by Chris Woakes struck his right foot. He was in visible pain and was taken off the field immediately.

Following the injury, it was certain that he would not be able to perform wicket-keeping duties in the match and the fresh update on his injury confirmed the same . However, suspense loomed large over whether he would be able to return to bat or not. While it seemed unlikely, the batter has taken a brave call and won the hearts of millions.
Pant has joined Washington Sundar in the middle and will look to add as many as he can to the Indian total.

Although Jofra Archer removed Ravindra Jadeja early in the morning, it has still proven to be a frustrating day for the hosts so far. Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar stitched a quick 48-run stand for the 6th wicket, which took India past the 300-run mark. Thakur was eventually dismissed after contributing a handy 41 runs to the Indian total.
Sundar is currently batting at 20 and has been joined by an injured Rishabh Pant. It will be intriguing to witness how Pant will approach his innings since the injury would have taken a massive toll on his energy. As per the latest update, the game has been paused due to a rain interruption, and lunch has been declared on Day 2 of the 4th India vs England Test.
