New Zealand vs South Africa T20 World Cup LIVE Score: The 2026 T20 World Cup could have its first confirmed Super 8 team when New Zealand and South Africa face off in Ahmedabad on Saturday. Both New Zealand and South Africa enter Saturday’s afternoon clash with a 100 per cent record so far in the tournament, and the team that wins the highly-anticipated showdown at the Narendra Modi Stadium will confirm a top-two finish in Group D for themselves with six points in three outings.
It won’t necessarily be curtains for the losing team though. The Black Caps as well as the Proteas have a better Net Run Rate than the remaining teams in their group, including Afghanistan, and winning their final match of the group stage should see them through to the next round.
How New Zealand and South Africa have fared so far
New Zealand had begun their campaign with a five-wicket victory over Afghanistan in Chennai, chasing down a challenging target of 183 with more than two overs to spare. They produced an even more comprehensive performance with the bat in their next game, chasing down 174 against the United Arab Emirates with all 10 wickets intact and nearly five overs to spare.
South Africa, runners-up in the previous edition in the US and the Caribbean, kickstarted their campaign with a 57-run victory over Canada after posting 213/4 on the board. The Aiden Markram-led side, however, survived a massive scare in their next game, beating the Afghans in Ahmedabad in a contest that witnessed a rare double Super Over.
South Africa enjoy an 11-7 lead over New Zealand when it comes to Twenty20 Internationals, although it is the Kiwis who have been narrowing the gap recently by winning each of their last three meetings. When it comes to their T20 World Cup head-to-head record, the Proteas have won all four meetings and will be aiming to extend that winning streak come Saturday.
