IPL Trade News LIVE Updates: The IPL trade window has started to heat up ahead of the retention deadline on 15 November as two official trade deals were announced on Thursday (13 November). Both deals were completed by the Mumbai Indians (MI) as they acquired Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT), respectively.
MI paid Rs 2 crore for Thakur and Rs 2.6 crore for Rutherford. As per official press releases, no player has departed MI yet to join either LSG or GT, but reports state that Arjun Tendulkar could head to Lucknow.
Shami in big demand as IPL trades heat up
It has also been reported that LSG and Delhi Capitals are interested in bringing Mohammed Shami from Sunrisers Hyderabad despite the 35-year-old pacer being out of India’s plans.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have not made any trade deals so far, but their fans have been among the most active on social media. KKR had been linked with KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals, but the deal reportedly did not go through as DC wanted players like Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh and Harshit Rana in return.
Also, one of the oldest trade news has been Chennai Super Kings parting ways with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran for Sanju Samson from the Rajasthan Royals. That deal hit a technical snag a few days back, but reportedly everything is now moving smoothly.
While the trading window would remain open for a while, the deadline to announce the retentions is tomorrow (15 November, Saturday). We could see some big surprises as teams look to fine-tune their squads.
Sunrisers could release Heinrich Klaasen, while KKR could send Venkatesh Iyer back into the auction pool. Follow all the latest news regarding IPL trade and retentions on our live blog here.
