IPL Trade News LIVE Updates: The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises must finalise their player retentions by 15 November, and we’ll bring you all the latest updates on who stays and who goes. The biggest development so far is that Chennai Super Kings could trade Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals in exchange for Sanju Samson. However, a recent report suggests the proposed deal has hit a snag and may not be completed before the 15 November deadline — though it could still go through later. Meanwhile, the IPL 2026 mini-auction is likely to be held in mid-December, between 15 and 17 December, with The Times of India reporting that Abu Dhabi could be the venue.

IPL Trade News LIVE Updates: Who will Chennai Super Kings release before the deadline?

CSK had a poor season in IPL 2025 despite building a new squad after the mega auction. They finished last with eight points and just four wins. Which means Chennai can release several players.

We feel these players can be released:

Devon Conway

Rahul Tripathi

Vijay Shankar

Jamie Overton

Kamlesh Nagarkoti

Gurjapneet Singh

Remember, Ravichandran Ashwin has already retired.

What is the trade rule in IPL? The IPL governing council follows a very comprehensive policy…check here

A trade allows an IPL team to sell or buy a player outside of the auction. There are two ways an IPL trade is done – either by swapping players between two teams or by buying a player from a team in a cash deal. In an all-cash deal, the team buying the player would pay the same amount as the cricketer’s price from the last auction, but in a swap, the price difference is settled by the two teams involved.

Also, the consent of a player is mandatory to trade or buy a player.

Is Ravindra Jadeja going to RR in 2026 IPL? Most likely yes, but there’s a small complication

As per reports, CSK and RR have reached an agreement. Sanju Samson would move to CSK and RR would take Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran from the franchise. But RR have no overseas slots left in their squad. They would need to release an overseas player to accommodate Curran and complete the deal.

IPL Trade News LIVE Updates: Jadeja not leaving CSK as Rajasthan Royals face overseas slot complications

Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran are reportedly set to leave CSK to join the Rajasthan Royals, who will see Sanju Samson joining the Chennai team. But the deal has hit a small stumbling block. RR have eight overseas players on their roster, the maximum allowed in IPL. So they cannot register Curran unless they release someone, and CSK cannot register Smason unless the deal is completed.

IPL Trade News LIVE Updates: Jadeja not leaving CSK as Rajasthan Royals face overseas slot complications

Welcome to our live blog, where we will bring you the latest news related to the retention of players by IPL teams. The deadline to announce the retention and released players list is 15 November 2025.

IPL Trade News LIVE Updates: Only three more days are left for the 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to finalise their list of retained and released players. The BCCI has set 15 November as the deadline for the IPL teams to announce their retained and released players. There are no caps on the number of players a team can retain, which means they can retain the entire squad.

Meanwhile, the IPL franchises are also busy making tweaks to their squads by trading or buying players. The biggest news floating around is the deal between the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Reportedly, RR is set to trade Sanju Samson to CSK for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. But a latest report says that the deal has hit a snag due to a technical issue.

Ravindra Jadeja not leaving CSK as of now

As per Cricbuzz, RR already have eight foreign players in their squad, the maximum that is allowed. In such a case, they cannot add Curran to their squad before releasing an overseas player. Which also means CSK cannot add Samson to their squad as long as RR doesn’t complete the deal.

The good news, however, is that a trade deal can take place even after the deadline for retention has lapsed. The trade window in IPL begins seven days after the season ends and remains open till a week before the auction. It reopens again after the auction and is closed 30 days before the start of the next season.

Besides Samson, KL Rahul is another big name who could be traded off. As per reports, the Kolkata Knight Riders are desperately trying to land Rahul from the Delhi Capitals as they look to release Venkatesh Iyer. However, KKR has so far failed to make a deal with DC.
