South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first in the second ODI against India on Wedndesday, December 3 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. India are leading the series 1-0 after a win in the series opener in Ranchi.

South Africa were boosted by the return of their regular captain Temba Bavuma who had opted to rest for the Ranchi ODI. Exprienced spinner Keshav Maharaj also returned to the playing XI and so did pacer Lungi Ngidi. Ryan Rickelton, Prenalen Subrayen and Ottniel Baartman were benched by the Proteas.
Bavuma said that the team expected dew in the evening even as he said he could not judge how the pitch would play. India captain KL Rahul, meanwhile, said the hosts expect dew everywhere they go.
