India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Decision Live Updates: The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 remains uncertain after a key meeting between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) ended without a final call on the fixture.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi met ICC representatives in Lahore to discuss the matter surrounding Pakistan’s match against India, which is scheduled to be one of the marquee encounters of the tournament. While no official announcement was made after the meeting, reports suggest that PCB and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will take a call soon.
Pakistan PM to make U-turn on T20 World Cup stand?
There are also reports that Pakistan may agree to play against India, but that will make PM Sharif make a U-turn on his commitment .
A few days back, he had said, “We have taken a clear stand regarding the T20 World Cup that we will not play the match against India.”
The current standoff over the India vs Pakistan clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 traces back to Bangladesh’s refusal to travel to India for their scheduled matches, citing security concerns. Despite multiple attempts by the ICC to resolve the issue, Bangladesh stood firm on their decision. The ICC eventually removed Bangladesh from the tournament and brought in Scotland as their replacement.
In response, Pakistan announced that they would boycott their match against India in solidarity with Bangladesh. The move immediately triggered alarm bells at the ICC, given the significance of the India-Pakistan fixture. The global body issued a statement urging the PCB to reconsider its position, and backchannel discussions between ICC officials and the PCB have since started.
It will be interesting to see if the PCB changes its stance and agrees to play India in Colombo on February 15. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), meanwhile, has said that the Indian team will travel to Sri Lanka as scheduled and attend training and pre-match press conference even if Pakistan boycotts the game.
