Pakistan have boycotted their T20 World Cup encounter against India due to the fear of the hard-hitting duo of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan, some fans joked after the announcement was made.

India and Pakistan were supposed to play each other on February 15 in Colombo, but the Government of Pakistan has announced that its team will not take field on that day even as it will participate in the tournament.

Pakistan did not provide any explanation behind their boycott but the move can be seen as an extension of the controversy that led to Bangladesh getting replaced by Scotland for the tournament.

Fans mock Pakistan’s decision

Indian fans showed largely positive sentiments towards the decision from the Pakistani government on the matter. India and Pakistan have played each other in the group stage in every single ICC tournament since 2013. However, if Pakistan sticks to its stance, they will not play India in an ICC event for the first time since the 2010 T20 World Cup.

The India vs Pakistan match is among the most watched sporting events in the world and brings a lot of revenues for the International Cricket Council (ICC). The global cricketing body’s response is awaited on the matter.

Pakistan and India were placed alongside the United States, the Netherlands and Namibia in Group A for the T20 World Cup. Pakistan are set to play all their matches for the tournament in Sri Lanka with the semifinal and final scheduled to be shifted to the island nation if the Men in Green qualify till that stage.

While the official reason for Pakistan’s steps is still not known, fans sense that it is a sensible call as Pakistan had anyway very low chances of beating India who are the favourites for the touranment.

Chances of Pak winning was very low, so by doing this they know they ain't going to lose anything but also can humiliate BCCI for not taking a stand & also playing them multiple times

On what basis Pakistan has boycotted to play against India ?
Match is happening on neutral venue as agreed by PCB , BCCI & ICC . They are the same country who said never mix politics with cricket but they are themselves doing it .Huge sanctions loading on PCB if they don’t play.
