India managed to beat Oman by 21 runs in their final group stage game of the Asia Cup 2025, but skipper Suryakumar Yadav was full of praise for the associate side. Oman, playing against the reigning T20 World Champions for the first time, put up a spirited fight and tested India’s bowlers and batters throughout.

Speaking after the match, Suryakumar said, “Oman played an unbelievable brand of cricket. I knew with their coach, Sulu sir (Sulakshan Kulkarni), there will be khadoosness. It was amazing, really enjoyed watching them bat.”

SKY on why he didn’t come to bat

SKY also explained why he demoted himself at number 11, letting others get time in the middle. “I will try [to bat higher] from next game (smiles).” He further opened up on Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana getting back into the playing XI. “It is a little difficult when you are siting and don’t get an opportunity. Still doing your best for the team, credit goes to them.”

The Indian captain also touched on Hardik Pandya’s unfortunate run-out, saying, “It is unfortunate, but you cannot keep him away from the game. The way he bowled and fielded, he gets a plus one for that.”

Sanju Samson, who was named Player of the Match for his 56-run innings, also spoke about the challenge. “It was a bit hot and humid out there. Working on my fitness for the past few weeks. We have a good trainer in Adrian. It has been a while (since I batted). Really good to spend some time out in the middle and feels really good to contribute.”

He also praised Oman bowlers, saying “They bowled really well. Have to give them credit for the way they bowled and batted. They bowled well in the powerplay, they were swinging the ball up front.”

India will now turn their focus to the Super 4 clash against Pakistan in Dubai, where they hope to continue their winning streak. When asked about this clash, India captain Suryakumar Yadav said his team is “all set for the Super 4s.”
