India vs Oman, Asia Cup Group A LIVE: After their dominant victories over hosts United Arab Emirates and arch-rivals Pakistan, Team India will be aiming to complete a clean sweep of the group stage as they face Oman in Abu Dhabi on Friday. Not only will the upcoming match be India’s only game of the tournament at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, it will also be the final group match with the Super 4s getting underway on Saturday.
Oman, meanwhile, have lost both of their matches – the Jatinder Singh-led side had suffered a 93-run thrashing at the hands of Pakistan in their opening game before getting knocked out of the tournament with a 42-run defeat against neighbours UAE.
Oman will be hoping to put up a solid fight against the Men in Blue, who are strong favourites for the title this year, and make them sweat for victory, if the prospect of beating the world’s top-ranked T20I team appears too steep an ask.
Ahead of the match, there were reports suggesting that senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah could be rested for the Oman game, with either left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana brought into the XI in his place. There is also a possibility of both Arshdeep and Rana being included.
India vs Oman head-to-head
The upcoming Asia Cup Group A match will mark the first time India and Oman face each other on the cricket field in any format.
Abu Dhabi pitch and weather report
The wicket at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium is expected to have more runs in store for batters compared to the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Additionally, the pitch will also not be as spin-friendly as the other venue, which could lead to the Men in Blue opting for a toss-up between Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy and including both Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana while resting Bumrah.
The temperature, meanwhile, will be hovering around the 35-36-degree mark around the time the match is scheduled to get underway, and will be dipping below 33 by the time it gets over, meaning the players are in for another typical warm and humid evening.
