The no-handshake decision by the Indian cricket team during the Asia Cup 2025 has created a fresh storm after Australian cricketers made fun of it in a new video. The video, posted by Kayo Sports on social media, shows Australian players, including Josh Hazlewood and Glenn Maxwell, joking about India’s refusal to shake hands with Pakistan players during the tournament.

In the Asia Cup, India captain Suryakumar Yadav and his teammates had decided not to exchange pre- and post-match handshakes with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and his side after their group stage win. The same thing happened in their next two matches too. The move was linked to political tension between the two countries following the Pahalgam terror attacks.

In the new video, Australian sports content creators can be heard saying to their players, “We all know India is on its way. But we’ve identified one critical weakness. We know they’re not huge fans of the traditional greeting (handshake), so we can throw them off before we’ve even bowled a ball.”

While the original video appears to have been removed by the streaming platform, a few users online have shared clips from their personal handles.

The video quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online with some calling it harmless fun, while others accused the Aussies of being disrespectful towards a sensitive issue. Neither the BCCI nor the Indian players have commented on the video yet.
