Another frame captured Rohit spotting Kohli seated by the window and greeting him with half namaste. Kohli immediately stood up, and the two shared a hug and smiles. India’s vice-captain Shreyas Iyer was also seen hugging Gill as he boarded the bus.

This is the first time Gill has met Rohit after being named the new ODI captain. There was a lot of buzz on social media regarding Rohit’s removal from the post after the BCCI announced the squad for the Australia series. Many fans even criticised India head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar for taking the captaincy away from Rohit.

Meanwhile, the warm moment between Gill and Rohit shows that everything is fine inside the dressing room. This is also the first time Rohit and Kohli have returned to the national side since winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 nine months ago. They have retired from Tests and T20Is and are available for the 50-over format only.

Fans will be eager to witness the two legends as this could possibly be their last outing in Australia as India players.
