India and New Zealand are set for a rematch in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy after winning their respective semi-final encounters – against Australia and South Africa respectively. India rode on yet another match-winning knock by Virat Kohli to hand Australia a four-wicket defeat in Dubai on Tuesday after being set a challenging 265 to win. New Zealand, on the other hand, handed South Africa a 50-run defeat in Lahore the following day after posting a mammoth 362/6, thanks to centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson.

The Men in Blue face the Black Caps at the Dubai International Stadium exactly a week after handing them a 44-run victory at the same venue. India had posted what looked like a sub-par 249/9 on the board after Kiwi skipper Mitchell Santner opted to field.
India’s spin quartet, however, spun a web around the New Zealand batters, collecting nine of the 10 wickets that fell during the chase with Varun Chakravarthy alone accounting for 5/32. The Black Caps, as a result, were bundled out for 205.

India and New Zealand have only faced each other twice in the ICC Champions Trophy till date, including Sunday’s encounter in Dubai. Their previous meeting was in the final of the 2000 edition in Nairobi, Kenya, in which Chris Cairns’ unbeaten century (102 not out off 113) helped the Black Caps chase down the 265-run target set by the Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team.
