Ahead of their Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash against India on Wednesday, September 24, Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons opened up on the World Champions’ dominance in this tournament.

India have been unbeaten so far in the Asia Cup 2025, with wins over UAE, Pakistan, and Oman in the group stage. They also beat arch-rivals Pakistan in their first Super 4 game last Sunday, making them the team to beat.

But Simmons remained confident about his side’s chances against India, saying every team is capable of beating them. Speaking at the pre-match press confernce in Dubai, Simmons backed his team to do well against India.

“Every team has the ability to beat India. The game is played on the day, it’s not what India has done before. It’s about what happens on Wednesday. It’s about what happens over that 3-3.5 hours. We will try and play as best as we can and hope to force mistakes in India’s armoury. So, that’s the way how we win games.”

Simmons also touched upon the recent hype surrounding the India-Bangladesh match, and said that every game involving India generates excitement, as they are the number one team in the world. He added that his team will ride the hype, enjoy the moment, and give their best on the field.

“Every game has a hype, especially the ones that involve India. They are the number one team in the world, so there must be a hype. We are just gonna ride on the hype and enjoy the moment and enjoy the game. We will give our best,” he said.

While India have been strong and unbeaten so far in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh’s journey has been a bit up and down. The team started with a win against Hong Kong but lost their second group-stage match to Sri Lanka. They bounced back with a win over Afghanistan to reach the Super 4 stage, and then got their revenge by beating Sri Lanka in their Super 4 opener.
