India and Pakistan are all set to face off in the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai on Sunday, September 28. This is the first time the two rivals will meet in a summit clash of this tournament. India and Pakistan have already played each other twice in this Asia Cup, and a third meeting is now scheduled in just 15 days.
While India are coming in as favourites, much of the attention will be on young opener Abhishek Sharma, who has been in brilliant form this tournament. He has already scored 309 runs in six matches, and Sunday’s final could see him rewrite several records.
Here are 10 records Abhishek can break in the 2025 Asia Cup final
Most runs in a T20I series/tournament for India: Abhishek needs just 11 runs to go past former India captain Virat Kohli’s 319 runs in the 2014 T20 World Cup. This will make him the highest run-getter for India in any T20I series or tournament.
Most runs in a T20I series/tournament by a full-member player: England’s Phil Salt holds the record with 331 runs. Abhishek needs 23 more runs to take the record.
First full-member player to 400 runs in a T20I tournament: If Abhishek scores 91 runs in the final, he will become the first player from a full-member nation to score 400 runs in a single T20I series or tournament.
Most runs overall in a T20I series/tournament: Canada’s Aaron Johnson holds the world record with 402 runs. Abhishek needs 94 runs to surpass him.
Most consecutive 30-plus scores in T20Is: With seven 30-plus scores in a row, Abhishek is tied with former India captain Rohit Sharma and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan. He needs 30 more runs to take the world record.
