What started as an unusual meeting for risqué purposes turned into a deadly mishap.

A 31-year-old OnlyFans creator in California has been charged with murder after one of her acts with a man who paid her for a sexual fetish encounter went wrong.

The incident took place about two years back when she was reportedly paid to perform BDSM, which refers to bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, sadism, and masochism.

Michaela Brashaye Rylaarsdam was arrested last month.

Let’s take a closer look.

The incident

Michael Dale, 55, died two years back after being placed on life support in California’s Escondido.

According to court records acquired by The Orange County Register, Rylaarsdam allegedly attached a pair of women’s shoes to Dale’s feet and put a bag around his head during the fetish encounter—at Dale’s request.

Additionally, she allegedly filmed the interactions for her OnlyFans website. One of the videos, according to investigators, showed Dale for at least eight minutes inside the closed bag.

According to reports, Dale paid Rylaarsdam, an OnlyFans model, $11,000 (about Rs 9.57 lakh) to do fetish acts.

Rylaarsdam faces a second-degree murder charge. In Vista Superior Court, she had earlier entered a not-guilty plea.

“The evidence showed that he hired her to perform bondage acts and fetish acts,” Deputy District Attorney David Jarman, who is prosecuting the case, said.

“There is no indication that he asked her to obstruct his breathing, asked her to put tape over his mouth, asked her to put a plastic bag over his head.”

The model’s lawyer, David Cohen, however, opined that there was no intent to kill.

He said it’s “clear there was no intent to kill.” “She acted appropriately when she realised this was a problem.”

‘Wrap like a mummy’

The alleged incident occurred at Dale’s home in Escondido in April 2023, in what appeared to be a session of BDSM.

According to the report, Rylaarsdam informed police that Dale had initially contacted her after finding her on a website that is frequently used for stripper or escort services.

According to the report that cited the document, Dale later made some strange requests to Rylaarsdam in texts and phone conversations in March and April of 2023, such as asking her to glue a pair of women’s boots onto his feet and wrap him like a mummy in Saran wrap.

Dale “appeared intoxicated” when the OnlyFans model came at his house at approximately 6 pm on April 17, 2023, according to the police.

“Despite that fact, Rylaarsdam decided to spend the next several hours with Dale and engaged in fetish behaviour at Dale’s request,” the affidavit states, per the Register.

About four hours later, Rylaarsdam dialled 911, and when the officers got there, they said they saw her giving Dale CPR. According to the affidavit, she admitted to officers that it was the first time she had ever acted in a fetish behaviour.

The next day, Dale was admitted to the hospital and pronounced brain dead.

He was taken off life support a few days later.

He was suffocated, according to the authorities.

The investigation stated that oxygen deprivation to the brain was the cause of his death.

However, according to the police report, she denied placing the bag over the victim’s head.

The evidence in the case indicated that Dale paid the hefty amount to Rylaarsdam to “have conversations with him, and to come to his house, tie him up and perform other acts of bondage,” the affidavit said.

Troubling videos

According to the affidavit, Rylaarsdam later turned over her phone to the police, and officers discovered “several troubling videos” of Dale, including one in which he was having difficulty breathing, with duct tape covering his mouth, a plastic bag covering his head, and more cling wrap wrapped around his face and head.

Per the affidavit, Dale had his legs wrapped in plastic, his wrists shackled, and his fingers wrapped in duct tape. He couldn’t get the bag or the wrappings off his head, according to the prosecution.

Additionally, it was alleged that Rylaarsdam engaged in a sexual act while Dale lay nearby, seemingly producing “content” for her OnlyFans page. The video was recorded just before the 911 call was made.
