Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani are now going to be spearheading Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 after Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra did the honors in part one and part two in 2006 and 2011 respectively. But why did SRK turn the iconic role down that he popularized with his style and charisma?
A report by Bollywood Hungama reported back in 2022, “It’s not like Shah Rukh Khan didn’t like the script. It’s just that Shah Rukh was not fully convinced. He knows Don is an iconic role and would like to step back into the character once he’s completely confident of the script. The box office scenario is not very healthy and he wants to be doubly sure before signing on the dotted line.”
The report added, “As of now, Farhan Akhtar has gone back to the drawing board and we can hope that the next time he meets SRK, the superstar will happily sign Don 3. The fans would be on cloud nine. When the speculations around the film generated so much craze, imagine what would happen on the day the makers announce Don 3.”
But now, it’s Ranveer Singh to whom the baton has been passed.
Ranveer Singh is now officially the new Don in town after Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Sharing some of his childhood pictures holding a toy gun, Singh penned a long, heartfelt note on this towering responsibility and growing up worshipping Bachchan and Khan. He wrote- “As a child I fell in love with the movies, and like the rest of us, watching and worshipping Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan - the two G.O.A.Ts of Hindi Cinema. I dreamed of growing up to be like them. They are the very reason I wanted to become an actor and a ‘hindi film hero’.”
