Days before he turns 50, Shah Rukh Khan received an honorary doctorate from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom after which he spoke about the life lessons he has learnt from his movies which he wished to pass on to the next generation.
From being kind to people without thinking how it will benefit you to tackling problems head on instead of wishing them away, Khan imparted some valuable advice with his trademark charismatic wit.
He recalled that a producer told him in the early days of his career that he would never make it as a hero as “my face was not chocolaty enough”. That’s when he did Darr and Baazigar, which taught him that, “if you live by your fears, everything that can possibly go wrong will go wrong”. Khan, incidentally was awarded the Doctor Honoris Causa for his outstanding record of philanthropy, altruism and humanitarism. The University Chancellor HRH The Princess Royal in Edinburgh presented him with the degree.
