War for the Planet of the Apes trailer: Humans are endangered by an army of apes in this film
The future looks bleak for humans as the apes prepare for a battle in the trailer of War for the Planet of the Apes. This film is the third installment of the reboot of the Planet of the Apes series.
The protagonist of the film is an ape called Caesar, who the humans claim to be on the lookout for. The trailer opens with lines that he has heard in the past, such as, "Does he look like just an ape to you?" "He's an animal!" and "He saved our lives."
This film will see an all-out war between apes and humans, because the latter fear extinction at the hands of primates. "There are times when it is necessary to abandon our humanity to save humanity," says the colonel, essayed by Woody Harrelson, who looks menacing.
There are visuals of apes riding horses and shooting arrows, which point to the brilliant VFX work put in. Along with some intense dialogues such as, "They must pay. I will finish this. I offered you peace, I offered you mercy," there are also a few tender moments, such as the shot where Caesar puts a flower in a girl child's hair.
The film also touches upon the subject of humans v/s nature. In one of the exchanges between the apes, it is reiterated that no matter what Caesar does, he will always remain an ape. "No matter what you say, you'll eventually replace us. That's the law of nature, so what would you have done," says the colonel.
War for the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval and Terry Notary. It releases on 14 July 2017.
