TVF Molestation Row Update: Victims welcome FIR filed against Arunabh Kumar

A third party FIR has been filed against The Viral Fever (TVF) founder Arunabh Kumar in Mumbai by an unknown complainant.

The FIR was filed by lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee.

A photo of the tweet shows that the FIR has been filed under Indian Penal Code sections 354, 354-A, 354-D and 509.

These sections refer to unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures, a demand or request for sexual favours, stalking and insulting the modesty of a woman.

The lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee , who has also represented Kangana Ranaut for her legal hassle with Hrithik Roshan spoke about what prompted him to file the FIR to The Quint .

He said, “The police were showing their helplessness, asking what they could do since the women alleging sexual harassment by Arunabh Kumar have not filed a police complaint so far.”

The same report also has accounts of accounts of the women who spoke about the sexual harassment welcoming the FIR and there is also an account of a human rights activist filing the complaint on the matter with the State Women’s Commission as well.

Beginning on the 12th of March, the co-founder of TVF was accused of sexual misconduct by an anonymous Medium blogger. What followed was unprecedented by both Arunabh and the world, where multiple women came forth on social media and brought attention to the repeated sexual harassment faced by them at the hands of this social media celebrity.
