While Kapil Sharma's second season of The Kapil Sharma Show is raking in high TRPs from its pilot episode, Kanpur Wale Khuranas struggled even on that end. The Kapil Sharma Show raked in 3.4 in the opening episode and 3.2 over the following weekend (which is calculated based on the average of Saturday and Sunday). Sunil's show, in the meantime, had opened to 1.1 currently stands at 0.9.

The second season of The Kapil Sharma Show has been backed by Salman Khan. The pilot featured the entire cast of Simmba, who came on board to promote their action entertainer. As per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings, the first week reports claim The Kapil Sharma Show bagged the second spot while Kanpur Wale Khuranas did not even feature in the Top 20.

Kapil's second innings of sorts, The Kapil Sharma Show season 2, comes after the comedian took a year long sabbatical where he dealt with his alcoholism and also got married to his girlfriend Ginni Chatrath in December 2018.

There are further reports that Kanpur Wale Khuranas will, in all probability, go off air soon. Grover, the front-liner of the show informed media that he had entered a contract for a mini series of sorts as he had prior commitments with Bharat. Grover had signed the show only for eight weeks as his later dates were booked for the film. He adds he had clarified the same even during the launch of the show.
