It was earlier announced that CBS Corp’s next voyage into the Star Trek universe will come in the form of a four-part series titled Short Treks  on the CBS All Access streaming service. A two-series official Star Trek animation-comedy series titled

Image via Twitter[/caption] THR called the forthcoming series as “kid-focused”, which could find a platform other than CBS All Access. “There’s other animated things that we’re building that are an entirely different perspective and an entirely different tone [from Lower Decks]. What’s exciting about it is not only looking at each animated series as what’s the different tone, but what’s the different technology we can apply to these things so that visually they’re entirely different,” said Kurtzman. However, details regarding the project have not been revealed yet. The producer also confirmed that two more installments of Short Treks will debut after the conclusion of
_Star Trek: Discovery's_ second season . A fourth Star Trek film was announced with 
British director SJ Clarkson on board, making her the first woman director to take charge of a movie in the long-running series. However, the film has been reportedly shelved as Clarkson will direct the pilot of a

Deadline. It was also reported in August 2018 that Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth’s final talks to join film had fallen through.
