Simmba: Rohit Shetty confirms Karan Johar, Golmaal cast's cameos in a special song of the cop comedy

Karan Johar said he requested Simmba director Rohit Shetty to include him in the special song so he could deliver at least one hit in his acting career.

Besides the Golmaal cast, producer Karan Johar, who is presenting the upcoming cop comedy Simmba under his banner Dharma Productions, will have a cameo in the film.

At the trailer launch event, Ranveer Singh, who plays Sangram Bhalerao, was asked about the special song featuring Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu, reports DNA . “That moment, I don’t want to ruin it for everybody. When the song comes out in four or five days… it is a blockbuster song. Karan sir, thank you,” said Singh. Rohit Shetty added that Johar also makes an appearance in the song.

“See, as an actor, it was my heartiest wish to give one hit film. This is why I requested Rohit Shetty that the only way I can give a hit film as an actor is to put me in your film. This is my only chance to remove that misconception that my pictures don’t work as an actor,” says Johar, who described himself as “the biggest flop actor” after delivering two box office disasters in Anurag Kashyap’s 2015 period musical Bombay Velvet and Chakri Toleti’s 2018 comedy Welcome to New York .

In addition to this, Johar revealed that Simmba will have a sequel, writes Bollywood Life .

The trailer, which released on Monday, shows Singh as a flamboyant cop, who is initially a local goon’s henchman. However, an unfortunate incident awakens his moral consciousness and he becomes a crusader for women’s safety and rights. The trailer also features Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham.

Simmba is based on the Telugu film Temper, which starred Jr NTR. Also starring Sonu Sood and Ashutosh Rana, the film is set to release on 28 December. Sara Ali Khan will play the female lead after making her Bollywood debut in Kedarnath, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, that releases this Friday on 7 December.
