Clearly the ’last of the stars’, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan turned a year older today, 2 November. Riding high on the success of his two back-to-back blockbusters, Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his 58th birthday and it can be said that fans are already excited as the celebrations have begun on a grand note. While thousands gathered outside Mannat , the actor’s home in Mumbai, social media also continues to remain abuzz with birthday wishes and blessings for the actor. Recognised globally for his films, Shah Rukh Khan in a career spanning over three decades has worked in a series of blockbuster films. While he began his career with television serials, later he went on to work in a number of hit Bollywood films, creating a niche for himself. Shah Rukh Khan and his biggest hits **Jawan** : With no surprises here, the actor’s last release Jawan is clearly on the top of the list as the film continues to run in some theatres across the country. It has collected more than Rs 1,000 crores globally while also holding a collection of around Rs 560 crore domestically. Helmed by South director Atlee, one of the most anticipated projects from the ‘Baadshah’ of Bollywood, SRK was seen playing a double role in the film scene and it seemed like he did the job quite perfectly. Pathaan: After a long hiatus, Shah Rukh Khan made a startling comeback this year with his film Pathaan which went on to collect around Rs 1,000 crore globally, while collecting around Rs 543 crore domestically. With the merged collections of both Jawan and Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan also became the first actor to have collected over Rs 2,000 crores at the global box office. This time too, the actor got into the shoes of an Indian soldier, who goes against all the odds for the sake of his country. Chennai Express: Released in 2013, the Rohit Shetty directorial Chennai Express is also counted among one of the biggest hits of the actor’s career. Starring alongside Deepika Padukone, the actor managed to spread his magic with a perfect blend of romance, action, and humour. The film collected around Rs 423 crore globally while it collected over Rs 200 crore in India. Happy New Year: After Chennai Express, the 2014 film Happy New Year can also be considered a big hit in the actor’s career. As the film collected around Rs 199 crore in India, it also collected Rs 397 crore globally. Featuring a multi-star cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Sonu Sood among many others, the film impressed with its right mix of humour and drama. Om Shanti Om: One cannot forget to mention the blockbuster 2007 film Om Shanti Om that turned out to become a big hit for both Shah Rukh Khan and debutant actor Deepika Padukone. Sporting six-pack abs for the film, the actor played a double role while exploring the theme of reincarnation. The flick also won a Filmfare Award that year. **My Name Is Khan** : Playing the role of an autistic person, Shah Rukh Khan clearly proved his mettle as an actor in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan. The film received high appreciation, thanks to his performance and excellent acting skills. The movie also went on to bag some major awards including a Filmfare under the categories of Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Actor. **Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge** : When talking about Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest hits, one cannot forget Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. It is believed to be one of the biggest romantic films that Bollywood ever produced. DDLJ clearly gained a cult status and is still known for running tax-free for the past few decades in Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir. The film is so iconic that it remains a fan favourite to date.
