Roma, directed by Alfonso Cuarón is a largely autobiographical take on his childhood spent in Roma, Mexico with his nanny.

Sean Baker urges fans to watch Roma in theatres days ahead of film's Netflix release

Alfonso Cuaron’s  Roma , the Coen brothers’  The Ballad of Buster Scruggs  and the Sandra Bullock-starring thriller  Bird Box   are among the several films that will play in theaters for one to three weeks before premiering on Netflix. Sean Baker , the director of The Florida Project has asked audience to watch Roma in theatres as it would be “a nice thing to do for the future of film.”

Twitter users argued that the film was only available for viewing in select theatres to which Baker said that people who could access it should do so.

According to Variety , the streaming giant has made the film available across 600 cinemas wordlwide for a limited time period. It was previously reported that Roma will have the longest run in cinemas , beginning from 21 November to its premiere on the streaming service on 14 December.

Though Cuaron opted to work with Netflix on Roma, he was also of the belief that the film would be better enjoyed on the big screen, writes the publication.
