Sean Baker urges fans to watch Roma in theatres days ahead of film's Netflix release
Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma, the Coen brothers’ The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and the Sandra Bullock-starring thriller Bird Box are among the several films that will play in theaters for one to three weeks before premiering on Netflix. Sean Baker, the director of The Florida Project has asked audience to watch Roma in theatres as it would be "a nice thing to do for the future of film."
You have a chance with Roma to show Netflix that you still want to see films in theaters. Don’t watch Roma at home. Seek out a theater where it’s playing and see it there. That would be a nice thing to do for the future of film. https://t.co/hIGkviVLhk

Twitter users argued that the film was only available for viewing in select theatres to which Baker said that people who could access it should do so.
Once again, a tweet taken the wrong way. Obviously I realize that there are a limited number of theaters that Roma is playing at and not every person has the means to see films in theaters. My hope is that the people who can see it on the big screen will do so. — sean baker (@Lilfilm) December 13, 2018
According to Variety, the streaming giant has made the film available across 600 cinemas wordlwide for a limited time period. It was previously reported that Roma will have the longest run in cinemas, beginning from 21 November to its premiere on the streaming service on 14 December.
Though Cuaron opted to work with Netflix on Roma, he was also of the belief that the film would be better enjoyed on the big screen, writes the publication.
