On the occasion of the late Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s birthday, son and actor Akkineni Nagarjuna gives us a glimpse of sorts of his upcoming horror comedy Raju Gari Gadhi 2 directed by Ohmkar. Also starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Seerat Kapoor, Vennela Kishore, Ashwin Babu in the lead roles, the film follows Raju Gari Gadhi (also directed by Ohmkar), that hit screens in 2015.
The trailer shows us the crux of the story, which revolves around a resort haunted by a female spirit, the mentalist who is called to capture her (played by Nagarjuna), and three friends adding humour to the situation. The trailer hardly reveals anything about Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s role.
Shot at an exotic resort, Raju Gari Gadhi 2 looks like an entertaining horror drama, with loads of humour provided by Vennela Kishore. Nagarjuna’s role reminds us of Rajinikanth in Chandramukhi, while compelling visuals, spooky references and SS Thaman’s music pull us into the horror story right from the word ‘go’.
While the first installment of the film recieved a mixed response, expectations are high for Raju Gari Gadhi 2. Slated for a 13 October release, Nagarjuna adds some star power to this second installment, as does Samantha — pitted against her real-life father-in-law-to-be.
The last time Nagarjuna and Samantha performed together was in Manam (2014), which saw the entire Akkineni family come together.
