Varun Dhawan’s film Baby John opened to mixed responses from audiences and critics. The film managed to collect Rs 12-13 crore on the eve of Christmas. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 and the Hollywood biggie Mufasa reportedly earned Rs 20 crore and Rs 15 crore respectively.
Rajpal Yadav told Bollywood Bubble what went wrong with the film. He said, “If this wasn’t a remake, then this would have been the most well-made film of my 25 year career.”
He added, “But since Vijay had done it, the audience had already seen it and because it was a remake, it affected the box office of the film.”
When asked if Varun Dhawan is ‘depressed’ post the debacle of Kalees’ film, Yadav responded, “Varun is such a sweet boy, very hardworking. He has always tried to do something different, and his attempts must be appreciated because it’s a big deal to take risks.”
The _Baby John_ star shared that Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan have also understood that things have changed.
“We will all have to go ahead. People who are in the powerful positions right now, there is an age limit, those who are doing the same thing for years. They are only at the helm. I am not sure if they recognise it but it is important to change with time. We all will have to do it or we’ll lose relevance, including me. It is difficult because you don’t want to change," Varun told Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast.
He added, “The upcoming stars or the ones who are still aspiring have these circles but those who are already on that stature, they don’t have these people around them. Stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, they are not delulu (delusional). They are aware of what’s happening”.
