Pop-rock artist Naalayak—the musical identity of singer-songwriter Sahil Samuel—has officially released his most personal and powerful work yet, the album MARAMMAT (meaning “repair” in Urdu) on Warner Music India.
This eight-track release marks Sahil Samuel’s most vulnerable body of work and positions him for a major breakthrough in the independent music scene. Since his 2016 debut, with Sawan (Single) and three albums later, the Chandigarh-based artist has garnered a loyal following through anthems like “Zakir” and “Baawra,” blending the grunge soul of rock with heartfelt Hindi-Urdu lyricism.
MARAMMAT is an emotional journey of self-repair, born directly from a period of betrayal, loss, and rebuilding. It captures the deeply human experience of how pain can transform into strength, revealing vulnerability as the first step toward healing and resilience.
“ The last few years felt like an emotional earthquake, ” says Sahil Samuel (Naalayak) . “ I lost trust, I lost direction, and for a while, I even lost my voice. But MARAMMAT became my way back – it’s proof that even your lowest moments can lead to something beautiful. This album is for anyone who’s ever had to start over. ”
To complement the album’s emotional depth, Naalayak has released 2 official music videos for the singles “Gulfam” and “3AM Thoughts along with short vertical music videos for each song of the album.
The " Gulfam " music video, in particular, has been one of the most unique collaborations in the independent music scene. It features a diverse cast of well-known personalities and artists, like Sikkim based police officer and actor, Eksha Kerung in the lead, legendary musicians Rahul Ram (Indian Ocean) and Subir Malik (Parikrama), alongside fellow artists like Pho , Vasu Raina , Nisa Shetty and popular creators such as Arpit Bal a, Onkar Yadav & Shreya Priyam Roy . This collective effort showcases the unity and support within the independent music community.
Following the release, Naalayak is preparing for a multi-city MARAMMAT India Tour in December, which will bring the album closer to fans across the country. Tour dates are expected to be announced soon.
The songs on MARAMMAT collectively tell the story of falling apart and finding the courage to rebuild.
Gulfam captures the wild rush of love, where emotions run free and reason fades into rhythm.
MARAMMAT is about breaking free from thoughts that hold one back and finding the courage to start again. 3am Thoughts drifts through the quiet restlessness of sleepless nights, caught between hope, doubt, and unspoken feelings. Mann is a quiet surrender, a song about missing what’s gone and learning to accept it, even when the heart still resists. Filmy turns love and heartbreak into a cinematic confession., Sahil Ke Kinaare is about trying to find peace in distance, where sadness softens into grace and quiet acceptance. Cauliflower captures the reality of people who hide their struggles behind normalcy and pull others down instead of facing themselves. Chai Pe Malai is a reminder for dreamers content in their comfort zone, urging them to rise, act, and live up to their true potential.
Naalayak’s MARAMMAT released worldwide on November 7, 2025, on Warner Music India and all major streaming platforms.
