Pirates of the Caribbean 5 trailer: Keira Knightley to return as Elizabeth Swann
Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow must fight the revenge-seeking Salazar in Pirates of the Caribbean 5.
Revenge seems to be the main motive in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
In the Japanese trailer of the fifth film in the franchise, protagonist Jack Sparrow's life hangs in the balance, as the dead have come back and are searching for him.
The trailer has shots of warring ships and instances of classic Jack Sparrow humour, such as the scene where the famed pirate is languishing in prison pant-less.
In this film, Johnny Depp's character must find his ship the Black Pearl, his crew and the Trident of Poseidon, which will enable him to control the seas. The film is titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge in India. Salazar, played by Javier Bardem, escapes from the Devil's Triangle with his ghost crew, determined to kill every sea pirate.
This trailer has a shot of Keira Knightley too, who makes a return as Elizabeth Swann. She was missing from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment of the franchise. Orlando Bloom's Will Turner also makes a comeback in the film, and we are introduced to his character's son played by Brenton Thwaites.
Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the film will see Paul McCartney in a cameo role.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge releases on 26 May, 2017. Watch the latest trailer here:
Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer has hinted that the disappointing performance of the latest sequel may lead to the end of the franchise.
"Themes, settings, plot, several characters, and dialogues from 'The Screenplay', some practically verbatim, have been copied by the defendants into Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," states the lawsuit.
