Netflix and Aryan Khan’s ‘The Ba***ds Of Bollywood’ is silly, self-deprecating, and sensational in its craft and characters. And because it attempts to show the BTS world of Bollywood, reels were bound to go viral on social media. One scene featuring a parody of former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede has gone viral too.

What does Sameer Wankhede say in his plea?

In his plea to the Delhi High Court, Sameer Wankhede said the series “disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions.”

The plea adds that the show “deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign Sameer Wankhede’s reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner.”

“Furthermore, the series, inter alia, depicts a character making an obscene gesture—specifically, showing a middle finger after the character recites the slogan “Satyamev Jayate.”

It added, “Which is the part of the National Emblem. This act constitutes a grave and sensitive violation of the provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which attracts penal consequences under the law.”

Wankhede ‘s history

Wankhede made news when he was heading the Narcotics Control Bureau’s Mumbai zone two years back. Around that time, the ex-NCB Zonal Director handled some high-profile incidents

Aryan Khan  and the alleged drug case

On the other hand, Aryan Khan was given a clean chit along with five others among the 14 accused in the alleged drug case. The NCB’s move came in favour of the star kid due to ‘lack of sufficient evidence’. Aryan Khan was arrested on 3 October, 2021 and was released on bail by the Bombay High Court at the end of the month.

In a recent interview with NEWJ, Sameer was asked if he felt targeted by the media after arresting the superstar’s son. He responded saying, “I won’t say I was targeted but will say that I have been the most fortunate person because I got a lot of love from people from the middle class, those who aren’t that fortunate.”

He said, “I don’t want to talk about this man, but whenever you take action (in cases like this), and parents reach out to you, you feel bad about it. Especially when the person is a consumer, or if they have a drug habit. First and foremost, you feel bad, and you want them to go to rehab.”
