One of the most celebrated actors in Bollywood today, Pankaj Tripathi’s on-screen performance helps him shine effortlessly in almost every genre, whether it is a comedy, thriller, or drama. While Tripathi has worked in various Hindi films, he majorly rose to fame with some of his outstanding performances on OTT with Mirzapur, Gunjan Saxena, Mimi, Ludo, and Kaagaz. However, the actor recently spoke about the stereotype of only being seen as an OTT actor, adding that his work transcends beyond digital media.
The actor while expressing delight on having managed to break from the image of being an OTT actor said, “During Covid, when cinemas were shut, my web series like Mirzapur gained popularity. In fact, many of my films like Gunjan Saxena, Mimi, Ludo, and Kaagaz were also successful on OTT. However, they were initially made for theatres but we had no option but to release them on streaming platforms because of the lockdown. So this OTT actor concept came to people’s mind at that time.”
‘My work transcends the digital medium’
“The films would have worked better well if they were released in the cinema,” the 46-year-old actor said according to an HT report and continued, “I agree that I am present on OTT majority. Whichever streaming platform you open, I am there, and that too in the most watched content. However, my work transcends the digital medium.”
“I was seen in _OMG 2_ recently and also films like _Fukrey 3_ and Metro In Dino. So it has become very normal. I am not just tagged as an OTT hero now. That image is not there anymore,” he added.
Apart from that, Pankaj Tripathi also spoke on how he balances his work mediums noting that he never thinks before balancing his projects. “I have so many franchises continuing, so I am just working on them and I will go with the flow while choosing a process actor,” the actor said while dropping hints about his popular film franchises like Fukrey and Stree.
On the work front, Pankaj Tripathi was recently seen essaying the role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Main Atal Hoon. The actor has films like Murder Mubarak, Stree 2, and Metro In Dino in the pipeline.
