Actor Jim Sarbh won accolades for playing Dr Homi J. Bhabha, popularly known as the ‘Father of the Indian Nuclear Programme’, in Rocket Boys. Now, the 36-year-old has been nominated for Best Performance by an actor for his role in the OTT show. The move was announced by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Tuesday, 26 September. The actor announced the big news on Instagram. He wrote, “I was having quite a weird few days, and then all the pieces wrapped up neatly and I heaved a huge sigh of relief, played a game of sweaty basketball, cycled home in the cold sweet rain, went in for a shower, and came out to all these messages and calls.” Take a look:

Jim Sarbh’s nomination
Jim Sarbh has received a nod in the best performance by an actor category for playing nuclear physicist Homi Bhabha in Nikkhil Advani’s Rocket Boys. The SonyLIV series starring Jim Sarbh alongside Ishwak Singh and Regina Cassandra was released on 4 February 2022.
The 36-year-old actor told PTI about feeling ‘overwhelmed and excited’ to be nominated at the International Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Dr Homi Bhabha in Rocket Boys. He further added that “it is an honour to be recognised amongst such talented individuals from across the world”.
The actor called the nominations ‘a testament to the hard-working, dedicated and extremely talented cast and crew, who brought the incredible story of Dr Sarabhai and Dr Bhabha to life.’ Expressing gratefulness, he added “I loved working on Rocket Boys, a project that salutes India’s scientists, artists, and leaders, the pioneers of a newly birthed nation.”
In addition to Jim Sarbh, actress Shefali Shah has received nominations in the Emmy’s 51st editions for her show DelhiCrime. Actor-comedian Vir Das has been selected for his Netflix comedy special Landing.
