Katrina Kaif has had a considerably big year in terms of films as she shares screen-space with all three Khan’s in Bollywood — Aamir Khan in Thugs of Hindostan , Shah Rukh in Zero and Salman in Bharat . Yet, the media seems focused on her relationship status post her break-up with actor Ranbir Kapoor.
Recently, Kaif’s appearance on Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh’s wedding created headlines, with most publications drawing references to how they had a common past with Kapoor. Guarded and shy, Kaif recently opened up to Vogue about her films, relationship status and herself.
“I’ve enjoyed learning, and I feel incredibly happy at work when I feel like I’m learning something new,” she said.
In an unabashed manner, Kaif admitted that two years earlier she felt like the ground beneath her was shaking and that her life was over. It was during this flux that the actress had, for the first time, focused on herself properly. She tried to fathom her patterns and what she was comfortable with. She described the phase as one ‘without embellishments’, which often make people uncomfortable, as they perceive themselves in their ‘raw form’.
Talking about her choices of films, Kaif informed that they have always been based on ‘gut instincts’. Being in a jam-packed schedule, Kaif said that the present phase made her feel incredibly happy. Film sets, and the interactions with people on it, encouraged her to learn something new almost everyday.
Aware of her reputation as an actress unable to emote sufficiently, Kaif said she does not do movies to ‘prove a point’ anymore. Sustaining her career for this long must have meant she did something right, added Katrina.
Katrina also kept herself from looking back. She felt ‘regret’ was the most useless emotion in the world that humans could indulge in. Ruminating on facts in hindsight were something which the actress found fundamentally counter-productive.
Though her last outing in Thugs of Hindostan failed to impress critics, Kaif’s dance performance was lauded across the board. Concluding the interview on a hopeful note, the actress added that she was eager for Zero’s release, which also features Anushka Sharma.
