Karan Johar reveals how Shah Rukh Khan made him feel comfortable with his sexuality

Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan have been the best of friends. Their collaborations in Bollywood have always resulted in something extraordinary. Now, in a podcast ‘We Are Yuvaa’, Karan Johar has revealed the name of his go-to person whenever he wanted to discuss his struggles related to sexuality. And, it was none other than his bosom friend, King Khan. What Karan Johar said Karan Johar, who never shied away from talking about his sexuality, said, “He was born and brought up in a very progressive environment. He comes from theatre. He had worked with all kinds of people. My parents, perhaps, weren’t able to understand things. My feminine side that was coming out so strongly was only met with laughter or with being made fun of. When I grew older, people became quieter about it. But I could tell whether there was a slight chitter-chatter about the way I was walking or speaking.” Talking about how Shah Rukh Khan supported him, KJo went on to add, “I remember Shah Rukh Khan was the first man who didn’t make me feel lesser for some reason. He accepted what were considered being pansy, being effeminate or walking funny in those days. He was so cool about anything. He even had a lot of open chats with me. Whenever I had to say the biggest thing about my personality and sexuality, I spoke to him first. He was that one sense of support. He doesn’t even realise what he’s been to me.” In the same podcast, the filmmaker revealed that during his 10th standard in school, he even pretended to be in love with a girl. Karan Johar on work front Work-wise, Karan Johar recently marked the 25th anniversary of his directorial debut - Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Apart from his latest release Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, ‘Bollywood’s Baadshah’ Shah Rukh Khan has been part of Karan Johar’s all seven directorial so far. Released earlier this year, RARKPK featured Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.
