Rishab Shetty starrer Kantara: Chapter 1, which serves as a prequel to 2022’s Kantara, has turned out to be a money spinner at the box office. Apart from making record-breaking business, the film has also performed phenomenally well in its Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam dubbed versions.
Talking about its original version, Kantara: Chapter 1 grossed around Rs 79 crore in its extended opening weekend of 4 days and emerged as the biggest opening weekend grosser in Karnataka, beating Yash and Sanjay Dutt’s KGF 2, which earned approximately Rs 73.50 crore, which also enjoyedan extended first weekend of 4 days.
While the Hindi dubbed version currently stands with a total of Rs 83.70 crore, the overall collection of Kantara: Chapter 1 has crossed the Rs 255 crore mark at the domestic box office.
Apart from fans, the movie has garnered praises from celebs like Jr NTR, Prabhas, Ram Gopal Varma, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Nivin Pauly, Mammootty, Yash, Anupam Kher, Madhur Bhandarkar, cricketers like Varun Chakravarty and KL Rahul, among others.
Directed by Rishab Shetty, the movie also features Rukmini Vasanth, Rakesh Poojari, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah in key roles.
